1. What ManTag does
ManTag automatically monitors supported Uniden SDS200 / SDS200E scanner activity, creates a searchable event log and records received calls. Logged data can include frequency, channel, system, mode, CTCSS/DCS, DMR metadata, signal level, RSSI and call duration when the scanner provides those values.
Recordings can be replayed directly from the LOG, copied to Dropbox, downloaded as WAV and LOG channel data can be exported in a tab-delimited TXT format prepared for Uniden Sentinel. CSV export is no longer supported.
2. Starting ManTag
Start ManTag using the supplied ManTag EXE file. The required background components start automatically and the ManTag application window opens.
For normal use, start only one ManTag instance at a time.
3. USB scanner data
Connect the SDS200 / SDS200E to the PC by USB. When the scanner asks for the USB mode, select Serial Port — do not select Mass Storage / SD mode. Then click CONNECT USB in ManTag.
ManTag uses the scanner serial data connection for call metadata, scanner status and Waterfall information. Use DISCONNECT USB before unplugging or changing the USB connection.
USB carries scanner data only. Audio recording is handled separately by LAN or LINE IN.
4. LAN audio — SDS200 / SDS200E
For the best SDS200 / SDS200E recording quality, use LAN audio. Configure the PC and scanner as shown below, then connect using CONNECT LAN in ManTag.
A. Windows PC — Ethernet settings
| Setting | Value |
| IPv4 address | 192.168.50.1 |
| Subnet mask | 255.255.255.0 |
| Default gateway | Leave blank on the PC for a direct scanner connection |
| DNS | Leave blank |
Where to set it in Windows 10 / 11:
Settings → Network & Internet → Ethernet → IP assignment → Edit → Manual → enable IPv4.
Enter 192.168.50.1 as the PC Ethernet IPv4 address and 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask. For a direct scanner-to-PC Ethernet connection, the PC gateway and DNS can remain empty. The scanner Default Gateway is set separately to 192.168.50.1.
B. Uniden SDS200 / SDS200E — LAN settings
Scanner menu path:
MENU → SETTINGS → LAN SETTINGS → SET IP ASSIGNMENTS → MANUAL
Select MANUAL, then open Set IP Addresses and enter all network values exactly as shown below:
| Scanner menu item | Value |
| Set IP Address | 192.168.50.2 |
| Set Subnet Mask | 255.255.255.0 |
| Set Default Gateway | 192.168.50.1 |
| Set DNS Server | Leave unchanged / not required for the direct ManTag connection |
Scanner setup summary:
IP Address = 192.168.50.2
Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway = 192.168.50.1
ManTag V1.0 expects the scanner at 192.168.50.2. The Windows PC Ethernet adapter uses 192.168.50.1, so both devices are on the same 192.168.50.x network.
C. ManTag — LAN audio connection
| Setting | Value |
| RTSP port | 554 |
| RTSP path | /au:scanner.au |
| Local ManTag Bridge | 127.0.0.1:8765 |
After the PC and scanner network settings are configured, start ManTag and click CONNECT LAN.
Quick check: PC = 192.168.50.1 · Scanner = 192.168.50.2 · Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0 · Scanner Default Gateway = 192.168.50.1.
5. LINE IN audio
Click CONNECT LINE IN to use an audio input connected to the PC. Select the correct Windows input device when the browser asks for permission.
For clean recordings, avoid excessive scanner volume. LINE IN recordings are stored in the browser-supported audio format and can be exported as WAV through the AUDIO download control.
6. Live monitor and Waterfall
The upper live panel shows the current scanner activity. Waterfall data appears when Waterfall is enabled on the SDS200-E. Waterfall HOLD activity can also create LOG entries and recordings.
Some metadata may be unavailable in specific scanner modes. A dash means the scanner did not provide a usable value.
7. LOG and filtering
Each completed call becomes one LOG row. ManTag keeps and displays up to the latest 1000 LOG records. This limit applies to the local ManTag LOG; Dropbox recording storage is not limited to 1000 records and is controlled by the selected Dropbox retention setting.
Use FILTER LOG to search frequency, channel, system, TGID, UID and other displayed metadata.
ALL / UNPLAYED / PLAYED filters recordings by playback state. TIME ↑ / TIME ↓ changes chronology. CLEAR LOG clears the complete LOG after confirmation.
8. Playback controls
| Control | Function |
| AUTO PLAY | Plays all currently displayed recordings from top to bottom. |
| SPEED | 0.5×, 0.75×, 1×, 1.25× or 1.5×. |
| PREV / NEXT | Moves within the current filtered and sorted playback order. |
| PAUSE / RESUME | Pauses or resumes the current recording without changing position. |
| STOP | Stops playback and AUTO PLAY. |
The active row is highlighted with blue text without changing row size.
9. AUDIO column
Each LOG row uses compact AUDIO controls:
| Icon | Function |
| ▶ / ■ | One toggle button. ▶ starts this recording and changes to ■ while it is playing. ■ stops playback. After playback ends, the button returns to ▶. |
| ↓ | Download this recording as WAV. Existing WAV files are downloaded directly; other supported formats are converted first. |
| × | Delete only this LOG row. If the row owns a recording, the matching local audio file is deleted as well. |
If a recording is missing, unavailable AUDIO functions remain blank.
10. Dropbox / Audio storage
Click DROPBOX / AUDIO to configure Dropbox synchronization, local recording retention and minimum call length.
Both Dropbox and local recordings support: 12 HOURS · 24 HOURS · 3 DAYS · 7 DAYS · 14 DAYS · 30 DAYS · 60 DAYS · 90 DAYS · KEEP ALL.
The selected LOCAL RECORDS retention also controls the age of records kept in the ManTag LOG. Old LOG rows are checked at startup and periodically while ManTag is running.
Dropbox itself is not limited to 1000 records. Its content is controlled by the selected Dropbox retention period. When a synchronized Dropbox file is deleted locally, Dropbox may synchronize that deletion to the cloud.
11. Sentinel TXT export
SENTINEL exports the currently displayed LOG result as a tab-delimited TXT file prepared for copy/paste into Uniden Sentinel. The export follows the active LOG filter and time order and contains data rows only — no header row.
CSV export is no longer supported. Audio is not embedded in the Sentinel export.
12. DAY / NIGHT
Use the DAY / NIGHT menu control to switch the interface theme. The selected theme is stored locally and restored at the next start.
13. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Check |
| USB does not connect | USB cable, Windows COM connection, scanner USB mode and whether another program is using the scanner port. |
| LAN LED is off | Scanner IP, same local network, Bridge running, RTSP availability. |
| No recording | Correct active audio source: LAN for SDS200-E or selected LINE IN device. |
| Waterfall is empty | Enable Waterfall on the SDS200-E and keep USB data connected. |
| Metadata shows “—” | The scanner may not provide that field in the current receiving mode. |
| Dropbox does not update | Dropbox Desktop running, path valid and synchronization available. |
14. Files and privacy
ManTag stores LOG/configuration data locally and recordings in its recordings storage. Dropbox synchronization is optional. Scanner monitoring data is processed locally by the application.
